I think it's always hard to see the good in your home city, because you never go through that period when everything seems new and shiny. I spent a long time thinking Hartford had no redeeming qualities whatsoever, because I grew up there, but now when I look at other people's pictures I can understand why people would want to visit.

I've only visited LA once - I think I would have appreciated the city more if I hadn't had a hard time breathing! I'm not sure if that was just because it was summer or because I was used to living in a place with the climate of a rainforest, so I'd forgotten how to breathe dry air.

I've been meaning to comment on this for a while... the shout out in my post about driving home had to suffice for the time being.
I'm so flattered you mentioned me here... I very much feel the same and I'm glad we've crossed paths on the internet hehe... next time, something in real life - TBEX, a road trip, or maybe just a cat cafe!

Woo! Thanks for the kind words. Now the pressure's on to write even more heartfelt, amusing, will-cheer-you-up-in-ONE-second-flat emails.

James' Beach was good, but definitely not the best fish tacos in LA. Maybe the best grilled fish taco perhaps? And maybe the best seafood appetizers? I'm way more partial to the fried baja style fish taco that comes out of a food truck at less than $2 a pop. So go to James Beach with someone nice, maybe even someone you love.

And then go to the tattoo parlour next door to cross off another item on this list (which is what I did).

I love trains! They are my favorite way of traveling! Coming from Holland, the train is the most obvious way of transport. There is no better way to travel than by train (I really don't like flying, I'd rather sit in a train for 4 days straight than to fly 4 hours). Best train journey so far: anything in China. It's crazy beautiful.
I'll be in the US in a couple of months and will definitely go on this train, it looks incredible!
