Intro to a Road Trip: Photo Edition

These are just a mere few of the many photos I took during my recent road trip from Los Angeles to Chicago. The boyf and I drove for four days along the southern route, crossing through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and southern Illinois. These pictures make the journey look much more glamorous than anything that actually happened.

This is about an hour into the trip and so, naturally, our attention span was running thin and we were starting to get a little bored. We decided to start taking some photos. But when you’re driving through the countryside (or southern California’s version of the countryside), you’re kind of limited in subject matter. All of our pictures are of trees, signs, rocks, or each other while we’re driving and making funny faces at the camera, which seemed much more hilarious and intelligent at the time, when we had been driving for seven or eight hours straight and had consumed massive amounts of McDonald’s coffee.

This is when the scenery was still pretty and fun to look at (this only lasted until New Mexico).

We tried to get a picture of every state’s sign as we entered, but this is the only one that is non-blurry enough to be recognizable. Alas. Also, did you know that in Texas they have signs everywhere that say “Don’t Mess With Texas?” This makes me want to mess with Texas.
I took this picture while driving. The boyf was sleeping but immediately woke up when I almost crashed.

Does it ruin the romance of this photograph if I tell you that the boyf took it while I was peeing behind a bush/could probably really easily have been seen by anyone passing by on the highway? Whatever. Desperate times, man.
